Aberfeldy 15 Year Bolgheri Red Wine Cask 92 Proof 750ml

Aberfeldy 15 Years Bolgheri Red Wine Cask 92Proof 750mL

Highland single malt Scotch whisky from the Aberfeldy distillery.

  • Age: Matured 15 years in refill and hogshead casks, then finished for ~2 years in red-wine casks sourced from the Bolgheri region of Tuscany, Italy.

  • Finish / Cask: The “Bolgheri Red Wine Cask” finish — the wine casks are intended to impart red-wine–derived richness, tannin and fruitiness.

  • Bottling / ABV: Bottled at 46% ABV (92 proof), non-chill filtered and naturally coloured.

  • Edition: This is a limited-edition expression, part of Aberfeldy’s “Wine Cask” series.

Tasting Note

  • Nose/Aroma: Dark cherries, ripe plums, juicy red fruit, honeyed malt base typical of Aberfeldy, with touches of vanilla, nutmeg/spice, and soft oak — a blend of fruity, sweet and slightly spicy/woody aromas.

  • Palate / Taste: The wine-cask finishing brings red-fruit richness merging with Aberfeldy’s honey-malt backbone. Expect dark-fruit depth (cherries/plums), a bit of wine-tannin influence, dark chocolate, vanilla, gentle spice — often described as “velvety” and “lush.”

  • Finish: Soft oak, lingering dark fruit, subtle vanilla, warm spice or nutmeg, and a gentle dryness from the wine-cask oak/tannin — richer than a standard Aberfeldy, but smoother than many heavy-wood whiskies.
